Investing in the Minds Behind the Tutorials

Ask any Catz graduate what defined their time at St Catherine's, and the answer often comes back to one thing: the tutorial. The College's renowned tutorial system pairs students with academics for close, personalised teaching — support tailored not to a syllabus, but to the individual, with progress monitored every step of the way.

Behind that system sit St Catherine's academics themselves, many holding international reputations in their fields. Their research keeps the College at the forefront of innovation and contemporary scholarship, ensuring that a Catz education remains as rigorous and relevant today as it has ever been.

Sustaining that excellence, however, requires long-term investment. Gifts to the Tutorial Fellowships and Research Fund — whether funding a fellowship in full or in part — protect the teaching of a subject in perpetuity. They allow the College to attract and retain the very best academic minds, securing its place as a centre of world-leading research for decades to come.

Several named funds already support specific disciplines at St Catherine's, each a testament to sustained generosity:

• The Alan Tayler Trust Fund, supporting the teaching of Mathematics
• The Ceri Peach Trust Fund, supporting the teaching of Geography
• The Derek Davies Fund, supporting the teaching of Law
• The Dickson Holmes Trust Fund, supporting the teaching of History
• The John Goodenough Fund, supporting the teaching of Chemistry

Fully endowing a Fellowship in perpetuity costs between £1.8 and £3 million — achievable through 14 to 24 donations of £100,000, or 24 to 48 donations of £50,000, including Gift Aid.
